In London the average wait for a category 2 call, the category stroke and heart attack sit in, is 30 minutes (London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, 2025/26). In Europe 8 percent survive when the heart stops outside a hospital (EuReCa TWO, 2020); if a defibrillator is used within three to five minutes of collapse, half or more can survive (European Resuscitation Council Guidelines).
